Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
This is just a quick update on all that’s new this month. First, I am participating in the Atlanta Artists Plein Air Painting Exhibit at the Buckhead Library. The exhibit continues until January 13, 2018, but be sure to stop by on Saturday, December 16, for the reception from 3-5pm. There are about 20 artists with lots of beautiful work (all for sale!). I have six paintings in the exhibit. It’s a great way to spend your afternoon as a break from Christmas shopping!
Also this month, I have a painting at Kairos Church on Riverside Dr in Sandy Springs. As part of their Advent series, I painted “Peace”. It corresponded to the sermon on Sunday and will continue to be on display with the other art brought out each Sunday through the Advent season.
The inspiration for this painting is my family’s home on Lake Lanier. My mother has Psalm 23:3 next to the back door: “He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.” This is the best definition of peace to me. It leads me to Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.” But while that speaks to my own peace, I am reminded that there is a communal peace, as well. We aren’t islands in this still water. “For thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I extend peace to her like a river, And the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream,’” (Isaiah 66:12). We are connected by Jesus’ living water, a river of peace extended to us by God. And thus, we are brought to Advent and the birth of Christ, our Prince of Peace, a gift from God.
Finally, but certainly important, go to my Etsy store for last minute Christmas gifts! For this month use the coupon code FREESHIP2017 for free shipping. Have any animal lovers that still need a present? I have my series of paintings from Zoo Atlanta!
Need a gift for a friend or your mother-in-law or the perfect hostess gift? How about one of my “littles”!
I hope you all have the most wonderful end of 2017 and we can all look forward to what 2018 has in store!
