Yesterday I participated in the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational’s Paint Quick Competition! The invitational occurred all weekend long with 30 nationally known plein air artists painting and drawing, competing for prizes and selling their work. Sunday’s Paint Quick competition was open to the public and drew a wonderful crowd – artists of all levels! Registering by 1:30, each artist had 2 hours to complete their art. At 3:30 the art was gathered and displayed for the judges. Awards were given and art was for sale, but all had to be cleared by 5pm. Quick!
While painted in a short time, capturing the scene in such a short time takes great skill and to do it well takes years of practice. All the artists who participated should feel proud for the work they accomplished! I know that I’m extremely happy with the little painting I completed!
Next up this week: The Wesleyan Artist Market, April 30-May 2!
